Regional attitudes

The main road of the region is A-4 motorway leading East from Köln, Dresden in Germany then Wrocław, Opole and Katowice. Lower Silesia is also communicated with Europe by water routes. The main river of the region – Odra – links Lower Silesia with sea ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście, and through canal system through Łaba with Berlin and further on with Western Europe. Lower Silesia is a region of thousand-years history, meeting of various traditions, cultures and customs. Due to favourable setting on crossing of important North-South, East – West communication routes and thanks to rich, multinational heritage it is not only the most dynamical developing region in Poland but also plays an important role of industrial, administrative, educational and cultural link of this part of Europe.
