P4G – Partnership for Good project’s final conference – a short account

From 19th to 20th April 2011 the meeting of the working group and final conference of the project “P4G – Partnership for Good” took place in Wrocław.

In the course of the working group’s meeting the representatives of Lower Silesia’s partner regions participating in the project – Alsace, Emilia Romagna, Basque Country, Kirvograd, Steiermark and West Midlands – have presented the most interesting projects carried out in their regions and considered the possibility of further cooperation. The display regarding the experience of the Polish regions as regards the use of funds from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism was presented by Mr Mariusz Kasprzyk, a deputy director of the Implementing Authority for European Programmes, the Implementing Institution for the usage of the funds from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in Poland. The Implementing Authority for European Programmes acts on behalf of the Ministry of Regional Development.

The main subject of the project’s final conference were the regional development strategies. The partner regions’ and Lower Silesia’s self-government representatives presented strategic documents prepared by their regions. The conference was opened by Mr Maciej Zathey, the director of Regional Development Department. Mr Wojciech Kazanecki, director of the Regional Policy Division was the moderator of this event. The speeches were summarized by Mr Bartłomiej Ostrowski, director of the International Cooperation and Projects Division. In addition, the Lower Silesia’s Strategy for Innovation was discussed. Mr Piotr Mikiewicz, Ph.D. at the University of Lower Silesia suggested completing the strategy with matters related to young people. Since the works on preparing the strategic document have recently begun, the conference fitted in with the public consultations and broadened the perspective on the matter of strategy in the context of regional policy and development of Lower Silesia.

In the upcoming 18 months a final document shall be issued. The event was attended by representatives of local communes, districts, universities, Euroregion of Nysa, chambers of commerce and business support institutions.

The conference has concluded project “P4G – Partnership for Good” which lasted 36 months, co-funded from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (85%) and Lower Silesian’s Voivodeship Budget (15%), conducted within the framework of the 9th priority – “Regional Policy and Cross-Border Activities”
